Remote work brings many challenges in the leadership area, because it lacks essential elements of direct interaction, which help to build teams, said Corneliu Bodea, CEO of Adrem and President of the Romanian Energy Center (CRE), at the Biz Days, on the day dedicated to Entrepreneurship.
“It’s a challenge to use the company’s culture to do leadership remotely. Charisma is harder to convey remotely. To hire a CFO, for example, would you only do an online interview? I think that leadership suffers because of these online interactions,” said Corneliu Bodea, who coordinates a team of over 1,500 employees.
On the other hand, the CEO of Adrem says that this pandemic teaches us an important lesson related to efficiency and shows us the importance of digitalization and automation in companies, which can represent a modernization opportunity for any business.
“I was most surprised by my own ability to focus on what I have to do, because such a situation can paralyze you. I probably have the personality of a crisis manager and that has helped me now”, emphasizes Corneliu Bodea.
